اجتمعنا كثيرا لمناقشة مفهوم التقدم و ما يتعلق به من موضوعات مختلفة مثل الهوية وحقوق الانسان وأزمة العقل العربى والبحث العلمى والدين والسياسة والرياضة والاقتصاد وعوائق التقدم والوعى والاعلام. وقد أدي اختلاف الرؤي إلي اثراء الحوار الذي نتج عنه تنوع في الافكار المطروحة. , وقمنا بإصدار مجلة تضم رؤيتنا للتقدم كما ناقشناها في اجتمعاتنا. ولكننا لم نشأ ان تكون هذه هي خاتمة المشروع فبعد ان كونا رؤية مشتركة وددنا لو يتخذ الموضوع شكل اكثر فعالية ومن هنا نشأت فكرة أدوار لعل يكون لهذا الحلم -البسيط في ملامحه – دورا في تغيير الواقع.
والمقصود بأدوار ان كل شخص منا له دوره المؤثر في المجتمع فكلُُُ ُ منا بداخله عالم مجهول زاخربالإنجازات التي لم تتحقق بعد و بالأحلام التي ,لو وجدت طريقها إلي النور , لكانت الحياة مكانا أفضل .ولذا كان شعارنا "وعى – مشاركة- ابداع" فنحن نأمل أن نزيل التراب عن طاقتنا المهدرة من خلال نشر الوعى و تفعيل ثقافة الايجابية والمشاركة ومن ثم خلق فرص للابداع والابتكار

The group started when Goethe Institute invited a group of youth from different backgrounds: university students, artists, members in different NGOs and youth activities and so on to participate in the project “The Concept of Progress in different Cultures”(October-December 2005). The participants had the chance to express their opinions in a number of sessions that discussed different aspects connected to progress. Seeing that the main problem that stands in the way of progress in Egypt is the absence of awareness, the participants decided to form a group that addresses the youth and tries to raise their awareness and sense of belonging to their society by engaging them in different activities that is of interest to them. Participant of the progress project have experienced progress on a small scale by exchanging ideas and point of views; we are not seeking a utopia therefore.
Hence, Adwar group emerged. “Adwar” is the Arabic word for “roles”. The name thus suggests that each and every citizen does have a role to play in the society. No matter how insignificant he/she considers it, they can still make a difference. The problem is they are not aware of that. The logo of the group is "Awareness…Participation… Creativity".
